Arnold Schwarzenegger Confirms Terminator Role
While things have been relatively quiet on the Terminator news front since January, when Patrick Lussier and Laeta Kalogridis scored the job of writing the fifth installment and Arnold Schwarzenegger used his trip to London as an excuse to keep pimping his involvement in the franchise, plenty has been happening behind the scenes. Word broke earlier this week that Paramount was in talks to make and distribute the new film and now here’s Arnie again chatting about his likely role.
"I'm very happy that the
studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star as the Terminator, which we start shooting in January,” he said, letting slip two very relevant pieces of intel about the film that, at the time of writing have yet to be confirmed officially by brother-sister producing team Megan and David Ellison.

Melissa McCarthy Responds to Critic Who Called Her a 'Female Hippo'
The review – written in February by Rex Reed of the New York Observer, who panned the film Identity Thief and called McCarthy a "female hippo" and a "gimmick comedian who has devoted her short career to being obese and obnoxious" – drew criticism nationwide.

It's been a long time since we've seen those famously ripped Greek soldiers in skimpy armor.

Melissa McCarthy Breaks Silence On Controversial Rex Reed Review
While looking forward to the June 28 release of "The Heat," her new comedy with Sandra Bullock, Melissa McCarthy is also looking back at a controversy that caused its own heat back in February.
"Really? Why would someone OK that?" McCarthy told the New York Times of her first reaction after reading the review.
Sony's 'Smurfs 2' Snags $150 Million in Corporate Tie-Ins
Sony Pictures Consumer Marketing won't be feeling blue after securing $150 million in corporate tie-ins for "The Smurfs 2," which Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation release on July 31.
More than 100 promotional partners are pitching in for Sony's global campaign, which ranks among the largest the studio has ever produced.
Brands ranging from McDonald's (hello, Happy Meals!), Haribo (Gummi Smurfs!), Toys R Us to Wal-Mart and Macy's are contributing to the effort.
‘This Is the End’ Begins With $7.8 Mil Wednesday
Sony’s apocalyptic comedy “This Is the End” continues its solid mid-week start, posting $7.8 million on Wednesday, which includes the film’s $2.2 million late-night gross from Tuesday. Pic is on track for a potential high-$30 million upside in five days.
The ensemble laffer, which stars Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, James Franco, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson, should easily recoup its modest $32 million budget, especially if word-of-mouth builds like it’s expected to with strong reviews and audience exit polls. With a strong media blitz, it’s likely that Sony spent considerable coin marketing the film, however

Man of Steel: Henry Cavill, Amy Adams Soar at NYC Premiere as Superman Sequel Gets the Green Light
He's able to leap tall buildings in a single bound...and look pretty snappy on the red carpet, too.
Superman incarnate Henry Cavill hit up the world premiere of Man of Steel Monday night in New York City, where he and his leading lady, Amy Adams, walked the red carpet as they drummed up buzz for the Son of Krypton's latest reboot.
Adams glammed it up in a black strapless Nina Ricci dress with peekaboo lace bodice, while Cavill looked quite dapper in a gray Tom Ford suit and black tie.

10 casting ideas for Marvel's potential 'Blade' reboot
Which actor should take over for Wesley Snipes?
With the recent revelation that Marvel has a script for a potential new "Blade" movie in the pipeline, the question of course became: who should take over for Wesley Snipes in the title role of the half-man/half-vampire hero? While a new entry in the franchise is admittedly a long way off at this point, we nevertheless decided to have a little fun with the idea by spitballing a few of our own suggestions.

James Bond news just keeps coming out of the woodwork.
Following our exclusive news that Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn was in the running to direct the next film in the 007 franchise, some other names like Christopher Nolan, Ang Lee, Shane Black and Tom Hooper also surfaced. But then all those names seemed inconsequential when it was revealed that producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli had gone back to Skyfall director Sam Mendes and were in talks to have him return for James Bond 24 after finishing his previous theater commitments. Now his commitment to Her Majesty's Secret Service might be a bit bigger.
Is It Actually Any Good? - 'World War Z' Reviews & Reactions
With the release of Marc Forster's World War Z adaptation now less than a month away, Paramount has mounted a massive recovery and damage control/cover-up campaign to turn everyone's attention away from the bad CGI, the reshoots, and Damon Lindelof's tinkering. Their effort to change everyone's disinterested minds began when they first showed it to Deadline's Mike Fleming, who called it, "a rocking, smart, pulse-pounding big-scale pandemic with raging zombies, palpable tension, and the kind of hero star turn Pitt hasn't performed in a long time." Now it's about to hit UK theaters meaning reviews have been published, and other screenings have taken place with reactions all over. So is it any good? Did they salvage it? Maybe.

- Film.comLaremy LegelMay 22, 201377The franchise is sent off in style, a reminder of why it earned such praise and affection in the first place, the wolfpack giving us one final howl at the moon.
- Entertainment WeeklyChris NashawatyMay 22, 201367You should stick around for the end credits because there's a Helms sight gag that's absolutely priceless. The movie could've used more laughs like that one.
- Tampa Bay TimesSteve PersallMay 22, 201367The Hangover Part III is more like "Beverly Hills Cop," a generic crime flick improved by comical touches that shouldn't fit the proceedings.
- New Orleans Times-PicayuneMike ScottMay 22, 201360And so the real question isn't whether director Todd Phillips' third -- and, he insists, the final -- installment in the unabashedly crude, very R-rated comedy trilogy is funny. Of course, it is.
- Austin ChronicleKimberley JonesMay 23, 201350This is in fact the end – it is what is. We’ve had some good laughs. Let’s part amicably.
- The A.V. ClubA.A. DowdMay 22, 201350The best that can be said for the third, supposedly final chapter is that it jettisons the retracing-our-steps scenario of the 2009 original and its 2011 carbon-copy sequel. There is, in other words, no hangover in The Hangover Part III.
- Philadelphia InquirerSteven ReaMay 22, 201350Most of it plays like Jackass.
- Chicago Sun-TimesRichard RoeperMay 22, 201350Director Todd Phillips has delivered a film so different from the first two, one could even ask if this is even supposed to be a comedy. I'm not saying it's an unfunny comedy wannabe; I'm saying it plays more like a straightforward, real-world thriller with a few laughs than a hard-R slapstick farce.
‘Fast & Furious’: 3 Reasons Why People Love This Franchise
Who could have predicted that the 2001 film The Fast and the Furious - a flashy neo-Noir about the underground car racing sub-culture – would, over the decade following its release, give rise to a critically-respected global box office juggernaut?
Fast & Furious 6 is the fourth installment to be directed by Justin Lin, who is responsible for moving the series away from race drama terrain and towards the heist/thriller genre on an international playing field (starting with Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift).
Some people rally against these movies for being exercises in over-indulgence, be it due to the metal-crunching spectacle, the beautiful cast of men and women – who play criminals that are ripe for ogling – or the exotic vehicle and bullet car inventory. Sure, the Fast and the Furious series can be summed up as a guilty pleasure (no more, no less), yet Lin’s so-called shallow blockbusters don’t seem to generate the same passionate negative responses as, say, Michael Bay’s collective filmography.
The 3 reasons why people love this movies are:
1. It’s a Superhero Franchise in Disguise
Fast and the Furious characters like Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) possess super-human qualities – like the ability to jump from moving vehicles going hundreds of miles per hour and land without a scratch – but what really makes Dom as much a superhero as Batman or Iron Man – even without a costume (we’ll say his odd-fitting tight shirts don’t count) – is his higher moral calling and devotion to family. The rest of his crew, likewise, must wrestle with matters like parental responsibilities, love, greed vs. generosity, and their obligations to other people, all of which are presented in a context that reflects life in the 21st century.
